Trading Standards Officer
Contract – 20 hours per week
£17.04 per hour
Our client is looking for an experienced Trading Standards Officer.
To assist in the execution of the trading standards function of the Department in relation to commercial premises.
To carry out regular inspections of commercial premises and as required and to ensure that all matters concerning trading standards are in accordance with the Acts of Parliament, Statutory Regulations and Orders.
To examine deposited plans and make recommendations thereon.
When collecting fees for statutory duties to ensure the safe-keeping of the fees and deliver to the appropriate officer.
To attend public enquiries court hearing, meetings and discussions with other authorities or private organisations as required.
To supervise and guide the work of subordinate staff.
To ensure all records and registers necessary in respect of the work of the section are maintained on a regular basis.
To assist when required in the production of guidance notes for traders in the Borough and to participate in Seminars/talks to the trade/consumer groups etc.
To undertake to complete the programme of routine inspection set by the section and to advise local businesses of relevant legislative controls.
To ensure that standards and equipment used in the work of the section is kept and maintained in a proper manner.
To represent the Department in any ad-hoc working group as directed and to report to and advise the department as required.
To investigate suspected breaches of relevant legislation, to report with recommendations the findings of investigations; and to undertake further enforcement action in accordance with departmental procedures and the decisions of senior officers and committees.
