Appeals and Complaints Officer – Revenues & Benefits
Walthamstow, Waltham Forest
£23.45 per hour PAYE

Our client is looking for an experienced Appeals and Complaints Officer – Revenues & Benefits.
To develop and deliver specialist support/advice to a benefit processing or housing benefit overpayment team. Toensure relevant legislation, regulations and policies are complied with.
To monitor and allocate incoming work and to provide training and day to day guidance on all computer software systems and forms used by the service, plus make recommendations for changes to policies and procedures to improve and enhance customer experience.
To accurately process Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Free School Meals and all discretionary schemes administered within the service including those introduced under Local Welfare provisions.
To develop and deliver all aspects of Housing Benefit overpayment recovery.
In particular we are looking for a Principal Officer with the follow experience/knowledge:
The officer should have experience in making decisions on complex Specified Accommodation cases in line with HB Regs. The officer will need to be able to identify whether the claim can be treated as specified accommodation, scrutinise documents, deal with revision requests and liaise with landlords. They will also need to liaise with the Team Leader to discuss their findings, deal with queries, give advice to team members and manage the team when the Team Leader is absent.
